The Magic Moment is upon us
This is the time when winter changes to spring.
The soil is on the verge of warming up with the increase in air temperature while moisture levels soon begin to decline as rainfall eases through September. Coincidentally, sunshine hours are on the rise at a time when the demand for light for photosynthesis by new leaves is increasing.
The trees are primed and ready to grow. The winter leaves are firm and green. The buds, having been held back by low winter temperatures are now starting to expand. They will grow quicker as the weather warms up. The new leaves and shoots will grow into the environment to which they will need to adapt. The challenges of wind, sun, hot, cold will be better met.
At the same time the roots are poised to explore the new soil. And, as the excess moisture drains away, the air that replaces it allows the new roots to breathe.
Plant Your Trees Now
The Magic Moment is the time to plant evergreen fruit trees such as Citrus, Avocado, Macadamia and White Sapote.
If you purchased new trees during the winter, plant them now.
If you need new trees, come and buy them now and plant them soon.
Reliable Reed is the Avocado for You
Avocado Reed is terrific. The large round fruit have soft creamy flesh which can be scraped out of the corky skin that acts like a bowl. The fruit ripen from about October and hang on the tree until the end of autumn. The trees are fairly narrow and grow to about 4m tall. It is a self pollinating variety.
We have a batch of beautiful winter hardened trees ready now for $55 each.
